If your little girl is making her First Holy Communion in 2027, you might already be thinking about finding the dress. With Communion season fast approaching, it’s never too early to start exploring your options.

From when to book your appointment to finding the perfect fit, we’ve put together our top tips to help make Communion dress shopping a little easier - and a lot more enjoyable.

1. Start Communion Dress Shopping Early - Earlier Than You Think!

One of the biggest things parents don't always realise is how far in advance Communion dresses need to be ordered.

It’s not unusual for a little girl to find the one, only to discover that the order cut-off has already passed. Some of our dresses take longer to produce than others, so leaving your appointment until the last minute can mean having fewer options to choose from.

Our 2027 Communion appointments are now available to book.

Even if you're not quite ready to order, booking your appointment early gives you plenty of time to explore different styles, understand our turnaround times and make a decision without feeling rushed.

The earlier you start, the more choice you’ll have.

2. Yes, You Can Buy Your Dress Early - And Still Get the Right Fit

Found a dress you absolutely love but your little girl still has months to go until her Communion?

Don’t worry!

We carry out a detailed sizing process and will guide you through the best size to order, taking your child's measurements and the timing of their special day into consideration.

Shopping early can actually give you more peace of mind, as you’ll have your dress secured well ahead of the big day rather than worrying about availability or order deadlines.

3. Try Before You Buy If You Can

While browsing Communion dresses online is a great way to get an idea of the styles you like, we always recommend an in-store appointment where possible.

Every dress can look and feel completely different once your child puts it on. A style you thought would be the one might not feel quite right - while a dress you hadn't considered could be the one that makes her light up in the mirror.

Sometimes you just have to see it on to know!

4. Comfort Is Just as Important as Style

Of course, you want your little one to feel like a princess - but she also needs to feel comfortable throughout her special day.

Think about what your child normally feels comfortable wearing. Some girls love a full, twirly princess gown, while others prefer something more simple and lightweight.

If your child is sensitive to certain fabrics or textures, let us know during your appointment. We can help you explore styles and fabrics that will feel comfortable while still looking beautiful.

After all, the perfect Communion dress is one she’ll be happy to wear all day long.

5. Keep Your Appointment Calm and Focused

We know how exciting Communion dress shopping can be, and it’s lovely to have family involved. However, we recommend keeping the number of people attending your appointment to a minimum where possible.

Too many opinions can sometimes become overwhelming for children, particularly when they’re trying to decide how they feel about different dresses.

A smaller group helps us create a calm, relaxed and enjoyable experience where your little girl can focus on finding the dress she loves.

6. Consider a Weekday Appointment

Weekend appointments can be some of our busiest!

If your child can become overwhelmed in busy environments, a weekday appointment can be a great option. Our weekday appointments tend to offer a quieter and more relaxed experience, allowing plenty of time to explore different styles and enjoy the moment.

After-school appointments can also be a great option for families who want to avoid the weekend rush.

7. Most Importantly - Make It Memorable!

Communion dress shopping is about so much more than finding a dress. It’s the beginning of an incredibly special milestone in your little girl's life.

So take your time, enjoy trying on the dresses, take plenty of photos and let her have her special moment.

We’ve created beautiful photo opportunities in-store, complete with props and our much-loved “Yes to the Dress” sign, so you can capture those memories along the way.
