If you follow us on socials, you’ll know we recently had a stunning shoot for our 2026 Communion dress collection! If you haven’t seen it yet, pop over and take a look — I’ll wait… Aren’t the dresses just gorgeous?
With the season around the corner, now is the perfect time to share our top tips for preparing for your daughter’s First Holy Communion — and how to make the entire process as smooth and memorable as possible.

1. Start Communion Dress Shopping Early — Earlier Than You Think!
One thing many parents don’t realise is how far in advance Communion dresses need to be ordered. Some children fall in love with a dress, only to discover that by the time they try to book an appointment, the order cut-off has passed — sometimes by as much as a month!
That’s why booking early is absolutely essential. Our first 2026 Communion appointments begin this August!
Even if you’re not ready to buy just yet, booking early gives you a head start. You'll have time to try on different styles, understand turnaround times, and make the right choice without pressure. Some of our dresses take longer to produce than others, so the sooner you come, the more options you’ll have.
2. Yes, You Can Buy Early — And Still Get the Right Fit
If you do fall in love with a dress early on — don’t worry! We carry out a detailed sizing process and guide you on the best size to order to ensure the dress will still fit perfectly on Communion Day.
Whether you're ready to buy or just want to explore your options, early appointments offer peace of mind and the best selection.
3. Try Before You Buy — In Person if You Can
We always recommend coming in for an in-store appointment if possible. Trying dresses on in person can make a huge difference. A dress that looks perfect online might not feel quite right once your child puts it on — and that’s completely normal!
On the flip side, we’ve seen so many little girls light up in a dress they didn’t expect to love. Sometimes it just takes that magical moment in the mirror to find the one.
4. Comfort is Key
There’s nothing worse than investing in a beautiful dress, only for your little one to want it off halfway through the day. Our goal is to help you find a dress that’s as comfortable as it is beautiful — one your child won’t want to take off!
Some children love a twirly, princess-style gown, while others prefer something simpler and more practical. Fabric also plays a role — if your child is sensitive to textures, opt for a satin bodice and minimal mesh lining to avoid irritation.
5. Keep Appointments Calm and Focused
We know how exciting this time is for the whole family, but if possible, we kindly ask that you limit the number of people attending your appointment. Too many opinions — even well-meaning ones — can overwhelm children and make the decision process more difficult for them.
Smaller groups also help us maintain a calm and welcoming space for all the families visiting that day.
6. Consider a Weekday Appointment
Weekend appointments can get quite busy! If your child is easily overwhelmed in lively environments, we recommend booking a quieter weekday slot — especially after school. These appointments tend to be more relaxed, which helps many children feel more comfortable during the try-on experience.
7. Make It Memorable
Most importantly — enjoy the experience! Communion dress shopping is such a special moment, and we’re here to make it joyful and stress-free.
We’ve created beautiful photo opportunities in-store, complete with props and our beloved “Yes to the Dress” sign — so feel free to snap away and make memories you’ll cherish for years to come.
Take a deep breath, trust the process, and have fun. We can't wait to help you and your little one find the perfect dress for her special day!
